Ask a Librarian

Ask a Librarian will be suspended starting at noon Friday, December 23rd through Monday, January 2 for the holiday break. Any questions received during this period will be answered beginning Tuesday, January 3.

Get It! Services

Harvard Direct, Borrow Direct, Scan and Deliver, and Interlibrary Loan services will be suspended from December 22, 2016 through January 2, 2017. Any requests made during this time will be processed beginning Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in order of receipt.

Harvard Depository/ReCAP Requests

The Harvard Depository will be closed starting 11:00 am Friday December 23rd.

Non-library, non-Harvard clients:
To assure a delivery on Thurs. Dec 22nd requests must be received by 3:00 pm on Wednesday Dec. 21. Requests received after 3:00 pm will be delivered on Wednesday January 4th.

Library clients:
HOLLIS requests must be received by 3:00pm Dec. 22nd to guaranty a morning delivery on Friday the 23rd.

Hollis request made after 3:00pm on Dec 22nd will be delivered on Tuesday Jan 3rd

Harvard College Library Special Collections Request System

Many Harvard Libraries will have limited hours during Winter Recess and January Term.  For specific library details, visit Harvard Library Hours.

Special Collections items housed at the Harvard Depository must be requested by 3:00 December 21st for use before the holiday break. Items from the Harvard Depository requested after the 21st may not be delivered until January 4th.  

Imaging Services will be closed from December 23rd at 12pm until January 3rd. Any orders placed during this period will be addressed in early January.

Ordered-Received and On-Order Material Requests

Patrons can place requests for Ordered-Received Materials and On-Order Materials throughout the winter recess.

Ordered-Received requests received after 12 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 through Monday, January 2, 2017 will be fulfilled as soon as possible starting on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

Urgent On Order requests (those where the “Date needed by” is immediate, or the “Note to Library Staff” indicates urgency) placed after midnight on Thursday, December 22, 2016 will be fulfilled as soon as possible starting on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

Records Management

Requests for Records Management items must be submitted by 3:00 pm on Thursday, December 22 guaranteed delivery on December 23, 2016. Any requests submitted after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22 will be delivered on January 4, 2016.

Aleph batch products

All Aleph batch products (invoice reports, circulation notices, etc.), with the exception of Term Bill, are expected to be available at their normal schedules throughout the winter recess. The last Preliminary Term Bill of 2016 will run on Tuesday, December 13 and the last Final Term Bill of 2016 will run on Thursday, December 15. The first Preliminary Term Bill report of 2017 will run on Tuesday, January 3. The first final Term Bill report of 2017 will run on Thursday, January 5. Note that no term bill reports will run the week of December 19 and December 26.

LTS Support

Emergency technical support will be "on call" in the event of any major systems failure. In the event of a Library Systems emergency, call the HUIT 24/7 Operations Desk at (617) 495-3232. Please specify that you are calling about a library system.

If non-emergency communications cannot wait until LTS reopens on January 3, 2017, leave a voice message at (617) 495-3724 or notify us via the Support Center.

LTS Office Hours and Services

The Library Technology Services will be closed from 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 23 through Monday, January 2. Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, January 3. Voice and email messages will be collected daily. Any urgent messages will receive a response within 24 hours.
